The Foundation of Every Ceramic Coating

Paint Correction

Paint correction is the machine-polishing process that removes swirl marks, oxidation, and light clear-coat defects before a ceramic coating is ever applied. It's the single biggest factor in how deep and clean your final gloss looks — which is why it's built into every KlenCars coating package, not sold on its own.

Machine polishing paint correction prep for ceramic coating

Included in our coating packages — not a separate service

KlenCars doesn't sell paint correction as a standalone purchase. It's the preparation step built into our 5-Year and 10-Year ceramic coating packages, because a coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Polishing first means the coating bonds to a clean, level surface — and the gloss you see on day one is the gloss you keep.

Two Levels of Prep

How Correction Maps to Your Coating

The level of correction included depends on the coating package you choose. Both refine the clear coat — the difference is how much defect removal happens before the coating goes on.

Included in 5-Year Coating

1-Step Correction

A single refining pass with a fine finishing polish.

  • Reduces light swirl marks, haze, and wash-induced marring
  • One machine-polishing pass with a finishing polish
  • Enhances paint depth and clarity before coating application

2-Step Correction

A heavier compounding cut followed by a jewel finishing polish.

  • Addresses deeper swirls, scratches, and oxidation
  • Stage 1 compound cut + Stage 2 finishing polish
  • Maximum clarity and gloss for long-term ceramic bonding

Correction potential always depends on paint condition and defect depth. No detailer can promise 100% defect removal — some marks extend below the safe polishing limit of the clear coat. We assess each vehicle under dedicated lighting before any machine touches the paint.

The Process

What Correction Actually Involves

Inspection

Paint is inspected under dedicated lighting to map swirls, scratches, oxidation, and buffer trails before polishing begins.

Decontamination

Embedded iron fallout and bonded contaminants are removed so the polisher works on clean paint, not grit that would re-scratch the surface.

Machine Polishing

Dual-action polishers level the clear coat with compound and finishing pads, refined in one or two stages depending on the coating package.

Coating Ready

Panel-wiped to remove polishing oils, leaving a bare, level surface the ceramic coating can chemically bond to.

Where Correction Lives

Correction is the prep. Coating is the protection.

Polishing refines the paint; ceramic coating locks that finish in place with multi-year protection. Because the two are designed to work together, KlenCars bundles the correction step directly into the coating package — so you never pay for polish and protection as disconnected services.
